5.2. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR MAJOR BRIDES

Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) is required for the construction of major bridges. The primary objective of the IEE is to assess and inform decision makers about the potential environmental impacts of the proposed project and to suggest appropriate and pragmatic measures to mitigate and / or minimize the adverse impacts so that the Project can be implemented in an environmentally friendly manner.

 

The environmental assessment to be undertaken have to follow procedures as directed by Nepal Government’s Environment Protection Act (EPA), 1996 and Environmental Protection Regulation, 1997 (First Amendment, 1999 and National Environmental Impact Assessment Guidelines, 1993.
